"The years 1950-1980 are often described as the Golden era of Lagos. An era of increased commercial prosperity and growth and the emergence of a vibrant urban culture. Lagos established its regional leadership in style and culture, with ground-breaking music, fashion and art flourishing in a fertile, pulsating environment.
The Lagos Afrofunk Collective and Polly Alakija celebrate the Music of an incredible city and era, with this concert, fittingly named 'Eko For Show', the oft-used nickname that lovingly celebrates Lagos, stylish showmanship.
The Lagos Afrofunk Collective is musical communion of Nigeria and indeed some of Africa's finest musical veterans, whose cv's include stints with such legendary ensembles as Bobby Benson's Jam Session, Fela's Egypt 80, Manu Dibango, Zeal Onyia, Tony Allen, E.C.Arinze, The Funkees, Tabu Ley Rochereau, Monomono, Rex Lawson's Mayors and more. They shall be supported by the Lafiagi Agidigbo Ensemble, a proud and authentic traditional institution of a glorious ancient city."
