Words As Therapy: Gender & Sexuality (Lagos)

WAT.png

Words As Therapy (W.A.T) is a monthly gathering styled to function like group therapy sessions to encourage sharing of experiences around psycho-emotional topics. It is hosted by William Moore and Amanda Ihemebiri in the Revolving Art Incubator every last Sunday of the month. So far; why Nigerians don’t regularly access mental health care and issues surrounding the body a person lives with has been explored. In this third edition, W.A.T will be looking at gender and sexuality to explore how these aspects of identity affect our internal mental states based on the social consequences of identity constructs in both popular and alternative culture.

The event is FREE to attend and encourages attendees to speak freely and help in contributing to issues raised. It is our hope that with conversation around these issue, we can foster a society that values the position of the psyche and pay closer attention to our mental states and how they change in reaction to both internal and external stimulus.
